How engagements work

Every engagement begins with a scoping conversation. We want to understand what you are facing, what decisions depend on our work, and what constraints — legal, operational, or contractual — shape the situation. From there, we propose a plan with defined deliverables, timelines, and roles.

During the engagement, we communicate proactively: interim findings, emerging questions, and any limitations that should be understood. When we deliver, it is in writing — findings, evidence, recommendations, and the reasoning behind each.

Engagement formats

  • Retained advisory — ongoing access to our team for response, review, and guidance, under a standing agreement.
  • Incident and investigation — focused engagements around a specific event, matter, or dispute.
  • Assessment and review — structured evaluations of environments, architectures, or programs.
  • Training and enablement — capability-building for security teams, executives, or general staff.

What we do not do

Clarity about boundaries is part of clarity about services. HOKTER does not sell security products, does not resell third-party platforms, and does not publish client names. Our recommendations are independent of vendor relationships. Where an engagement intersects with legal proceedings, we coordinate with counsel rather than substitute for it.
